May You Feel Present

How do you desire to feel on Christmas Eve and Christmas? Pause for a moment and get curious. Write down your desired feelings. So often we get caught up in all the to-do’s and then expect a special day to deliver goodness to us. If we are not intentional, we can miss all the goodness that is right there in front of us.

This week I’ve been asking my clients how they want to feel. Here’s what I’m hearing: present, calm, relaxed, comfortable, happy and joyful.

Me too! My invitation, over the next couple days, in the homestretch of the doing, stay mindful of how you desire to feel. Give yourself permission to feel them NOW and focus on them like your life depends on it! Trust that you are doing all the doing so that you can exhale and be present.

Try it now! Feel present in this moment. Tap your leg. Take in a breath. No rush. For 10 seconds slowly be here in this present moment. Practice that throughout your day. Oh, I’m at the grocery. I’m present to the people gathering their ingredients for the meals they are preparing. At the stoplight, be present to all the humans getting to all the places. Notice. Be aware. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day remember this practice. Tap your leg, deep breath, present to what’s happening right in front of you.

This year we won’t miss it. We’ve endured way too many lessons this year to miss THIS!

In these last couple days of the doing, if you are inclined to listen to a podcast while you wrap presents or drive to get your errands complete, I highly recommend Episode #176 of The Robcast. For the past several years, I’ve listened to this conversation between Rob Bell and Alexander Shaia about the mythic power of Christmas. It is an insightful episode about the historical movement of Christianity into the Celtic region of the world and how Christianity and The Winter Solstice merged.

This year the takeaway struck me in ways that it never has before:

“The Powerful Message of Christmas:

We know that every time we go into the deepest dark that the grace of the fresh radiance will come forth in us through our courage to walk into the dark. The deepest dark is not the place where grace goes to die but the deepest dark is the place where grace goes to be reborn.”
~ Alexander Shaia.

Merry Christmas, Friends. May you remember that in this very odd, seemingly dark year of epic evolutionary shifts, the grace is being reborn within you. Be present to the Truth of WHO YOU ARE - you are not separate from the Divine. The Light is within you. Shine.
