Is Everyone on Edge?

I was recently talking with a friend who had just returned from a disappointing trip to Hawaii.  “How could Hawaii ever disappoint?” I thought.  Never having been to Hawaii, she and her husband decided they were going to go big and stay at a high-end resort with their kids because the past year had been - well, it has been what it was with three school-aged children at home for months on end. She told me about the crowdedness of the island, the lack of service workers,...

The Power of Love

I have several oracle card decks and I love to pull cards for my clients and myself. I don’t do this on a regular basis - I’m not a great “regular basis” kind of gal. When I do, it is always profound how spot on the message is for the recipient - at just the right time.

Today I pulled a card for us from my Tosha Silver “The Wild Offering Oracle”.

Relationship:
I call in the infinite power of Love to take over this union in every way. May it now fully belong to...

Love and Hugs #change #love

The winds of change and transition are upon us. Children are leaving, growing up, moving out, and moving on. Parents and grandparents are too. Jobs are transitioning. Marriages are well, marriages. Wherever this message finds you today, if you are experiencing change, transition, loss, a degree of uncertainty, a sense of a lack of groundedness, you are not alone.

Today I’m sending you a little lunchbox note. A note written to your Inner Child. To your tender heart or confused self. A...

Step Into Vitality #startthriving

My great aunt recently gave my father a photo album filled with sepia photos of our ancestors three and four generations past. With no markings on the backs, we don’t even know their names. I sat there looking into these faces, and it struck me that these humans lived full lives, and then they were gone. And only a few generations later, no one knows them at all. What are their names? What were their personalities, senses of humor, strengths, interests? Who did they love? What did they...

The Circle Game

August is upon us and for me, it comes in with the wind of change. I feel the shift in the air more acutely than in January when we usher in a new year. I have made peace with change, yet August comes in like a test, and I have to ready myself to allow it once again.

I used to say, “I don’t like change,” or “I’m not good with change.” I didn’t, and I wasn’t.

And then, I had kids, and those little things changed so rapidly that my perfectionist,...

A Eulogy’s Reminder To Forgive Myself

Every now and then, I go back and read my Mee Maw’s eulogy. It helps me to be right back there with her at her kitchen table. To feel her presence and her love - and maybe to get a little taste of her family-famous dill pickles, fried okra, or apple pie. I’m not sure what prompted me to read it this time, but once I did, I knew why I needed to reread the words I wrote 3 years ago.

I recently messed up. I did something that I will regret for the rest of my life. The action was so...

Don't Shut the Door

When someone compliments your outfit, do you receive it by simply saying, “thank you” or are you more likely to deflect by saying you got it on sale or it’s been hanging in your closet for years? When someone compliments your work, do you say, “thank you” and receive it or do you tell them all the others whose work went into the outcome or some other deflection? When someone compliments your decorating, creativity, gardening, baking do you say, “thank...

It's Time to Thank YOU!

I recently invited the women in my coaching group, The Courage Connection, to reflect on everything they have done over the past couple of months. As our world has opened back up and our days are filling up, and time feels like it is speeding up, what all have you done? What have you planned, completed, made happen? What have you arranged, organized, pulled together?  What have you prepared, hosted, taken pleasure in?

Be sure to acknowledge yourself for all the little things, too.

A Little Love Note

It’s been a while since I sent you a little love note in your “lunchbox.” If you are new to me, welcome. Some Sundays I’ll send a long message. Others I like to keep it sweet and simple. When I was little I went to my dad’s every other weekend. Two Fridays a month, I would take a lunch that he packed for me and I would look forward to the little note that he would leave me in my lunch box.

So imagine that you are opening your lunch and you see a little note...
